This post is brought to you by the letters NB and the number 574. In 2006 NB “finalized a four-year multi-million dollar agreement with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization, to become a program sponsor of the Emmy-winning children series, Sesame Street.” Check out the press release here.
Nb will release a series of kids classics featuring some Sesame Street favorites. These little classics are on the timeless 574 frame and range in sizes from an infant 2 all the way to a kids 7. The smaller sizes will start at about $40 with the larger sizes pricing out at $60. I expect these babies to be a hit, definitely can’t miss. NB Concept stores should have them in the middle of this week, followed by a national release of July 1st.
Elmo has a smooth leather upper. The Cookie Monster has a Velvet Nubuck upper. Oscar the Grouch is sporting a suede upper. Enjoy!

These little statuettes are modeled after the timeless 576, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. They picked up some sweet styles can any of you sneaker heads identify them all? No release date as of yet.

NB-blog and Nice Kicks both previewed the 576 Elements Collection. These three 576s are said to be inspired by Chinese Taoism and the basis of the universe. The Earth, Wood and Water 576 are in truth just take downs of the ST 33’s that released October 07. All 3 feature leather uppers and less than inspired detailing. These are tier 2 at best. Not NB’s classics departments best work. I understand if you don’t agree but take a look at all the pictures and then see what you think! All these pictures are property of NBKicks.com, feel free to use them just make sure you show the love.

Check out what Lazy was able to drag up over at kicks-n-jams. Looks like like he got a great deal on the 574 Almond Edition. Nothing like finally grabbing a pair of kicks you thought were unattainable - like your first pair of NB’s, Jordans, or my 5th grade must haves “Pump-Ups”. Congrats to him, and make sure you check out the pics.

As promised here is a picture of the new shoes. These 990’s are really sweet, and they were a steal. While doing some shopping in NYC, I walked into David Z, and found these for a price I could not pass up. Best part is they had my size. After looking at their website I found some really good deals on other NBs that I need to get my hands on. The M990EXBM I picked up for $49.99 is a truly original shoe. It has the upper of a m990 and the 3/4 abzorb-EX midsole from the m1000 and m1001. This combo creates a combo that feels as good as it looks. The saddle of the shoe is black patent leather, the toe cap is “flat” black and the purple suede ties it all together. Throw in the braided rainbow colored laces and the embroidery and this is one sick shoe. The 990EXBM is a tribute to Japanese console games and, in this case, a great buy. I snagged these photos off of nb-blog.

Staple Design has been collaborating with NB on a New Balance 575 “Pigeon”. These kicks will release in the same colorway as the 2005 Nike Dunk SB “Pigeon”. This 575 will have a special tag on the toungue of the shoe and some pigeon ”drops” on the insert. Looks like the sneaker is scheduled to drop later this year. pic and info via highsnobiety.
UPDATE: NiceKicks reports that these babies are not going to be made. Hope they are wrong or NB still drops the colorway.

I caught these on Guillotine, and they are very sick so here they are. All the details are there, and we all know that is what truly defines the shoe. This 574 is kicking it with a green and pink colorway and a nice mix of materials. The stars around the lace holes and on the heel of the shoe. Also, “for love or money” is embroidered on the tounge of the shoe. The for love or money campaign is kind of NB asking what athletes are playing for these days, the love of the game, or the sneaker contracts. Either way the shoe is fresh.

The A09Wt was featuredin the March-April 2008 edition of Hoop in their “Hoop Gear.” The A09wt is a release from NB Japan and features a one piece upper with the “N” painted-on instead of stiched. The A09 has also been released in black. The white A09 featured on this page has a full grain leather upper. The black version (Ao9bk pictured below) has a Hemp upper. For those of you that it matters to, that makes the A09bk about as vegan as it gets in a NB classic. Best place to buy online, Zappos.com, for $115.00 with free shipping both ways.

Check out Will Ferrell sporting a pair of M574MGYB’s in this February 23 issue of USA Weekend. The Article discusses the actors new film, Semi-Pro, and his family life. I know the guy is funny and I love his comedy but I had no idea that he had such great taste in shoes.
