Street Influence

Friday, June 20th, 2008

This post is brought to you by the letters NB and the number 574.  In 2006 NB “finalized a four-year multi-million dollar agreement with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization, to become a program sponsor of the Emmy-winning children series, Sesame Street.”  Check out the press release here

Nb will release a series of kids classics featuring some Sesame Street favorites.  These little classics are on the timeless 574 frame and range in sizes from an infant 2 all the way to a kids 7.  The smaller sizes will start at about $40 with the larger sizes pricing out at $60.  I expect these babies to be a hit, definitely can’t miss.  NB Concept stores should have them in the middle of this week, followed by a national release of July 1st.

Elmo has a smooth leather upper.  The Cookie Monster has a Velvet Nubuck upper.  Oscar the Grouch is sporting a suede upper.  Enjoy!

Almond 574A

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

I caught these on Guillotine, and they are very sick so here they are.  All the details are there, and we all know that is what truly defines the shoe.  This 574 is kicking it with a green and pink colorway and a nice mix of materials.  The stars around the lace holes and on the heel of the shoe.  Also, “for love or money” is embroidered on the tounge of the shoe.  The for love or money campaign is kind of NB asking what athletes are playing for these days, the love of the game, or the sneaker contracts.  Either way the shoe is fresh.

Not the Only one

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Let the debates begin.  It seems that I am not the only one out here that thinks the Ndividual 574 (recently on NBkicks) are lame and unoriginal.  Not that the concept itself is bad, I just crave more creativity than a black shoe with a velcro “N” I can replace or lose.  Lazy over at Kicks-n-Jams had a few thoughts on the matter as well, here is what he had to say:

I like the idea of these sneakers far better than the execution. …  Maybe a different colored sole or a mid sole with more flavor. Add a lace lock or get more interesting with the eyelets.   …   There is still potential for this series but they gotta get on it now before they completely lose public interest. It’s funny that they drop this design called Ndividual and then turn around and can design truly original series like the “super team” family and the “hungry dragon” stuff. You can do better NB!!!

I am sure that there are those of you out there that must have this shoe and that’s cool but I think I will do without.
